Aims & Scope
About the Journal
Letters in Basic and Translational Biochemistry is an international scholarly journal published by Aperture Papers and dedicated to the communication of original research across the broad field of biochemistry, with particular emphasis on studies that connect fundamental biological insight with translational relevance. The journal provides a focused platform for concise, scientifically rigorous contributions that deepen understanding of biochemical mechanisms while highlighting their relevance to health, disease, diagnostics, therapeutics, biotechnology, and related areas of life science research.
Aims
The journal aims to publish original and timely research that advances knowledge in basic and translational biochemistry through clear experimental evidence, analytical depth, and strong scientific significance. It welcomes studies that generate new biochemical insight, clarify molecular or cellular mechanisms, introduce useful methods, or bridge laboratory discovery with translational, clinical, industrial, or technological application.
Scope
The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, general biochemistry, molecular biochemistry, cellular biochemistry, enzymology, metabolism, protein chemistry, structural and functional biochemistry, biomolecular regulation, and mechanism-based studies in biological systems. The journal also welcomes submissions in translational biochemistry, disease-related biochemistry, biochemical pharmacology, biomarker research, molecular diagnostics, therapeutic biochemistry, systems biology, omics-driven biochemistry, and bioinformatics where these are directly linked to biochemical discovery or application. Studies involving plant, animal, microbial, marine, and human systems are within scope, provided the work makes a clear biochemical contribution and demonstrates originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s mission.
Article Types
The journal primarily publishes original research articles and short communications reporting substantial, novel, and previously unpublished findings in basic or translational biochemistry. It may also consider brief methods papers or technical reports describing innovative experimental or analytical approaches, and invited or editor-approved review articles in areas of emerging importance.
Editorial Criteria
Priority is given to manuscripts that present clear originality, robust experimental design, reproducible methodology, and meaningful biochemical insight. Particular value is placed on studies that move beyond descriptive observation to provide mechanistic interpretation, functional validation, or translational relevance with potential significance for research, medicine, biotechnology, or allied disciplines.
Out of Scope
The journal does not normally consider manuscripts that are purely descriptive, insufficiently novel, methodologically weak, or limited to routine optimization without broader biochemical significance. Submissions are also unlikely to be considered if they fall outside the journal’s biochemical focus or do not establish a clear connection between the reported findings and fundamental or translational biochemical questions.
